4/22/2010
On April 21, The Fish and Game Commission (FGC) adopted the proposed 2010-2012 mammal hunting regulations, taking the Department of Fish and Game (DFG) recommendation not to change existing bear hunting regulations at this time.
DFG made this recommendation after the department determined it needed more time to review comments, in compliance with the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act. The Commission will now consider a new regulatory package for bear hunting regulations at its May 5 meeting. A memo sent from DFG Director John McCamman to the FGC, regarding this issue, can be viewed here.
In addition, on April 21, the FGC increased elk hunting opportunities through the addition of new hunts, reduced deer harvest in Zone X1 and set in place regulations for mammal species for the upcoming seasons. As of April 22, the FGC has not yet posted these new regulations on its website.
